The High Country Triple Crown is the premier running series in the High Country of North Carolina. Headquartered in Boone, the TC consists of 3 events of varying distances and terrain. Each event showcases the beautiful area of Watauga County.
Reflecting the difficult economic times the pre-registration fees for all three events have been lowered for 2009. In order to effectively manage costs, please consider helping us by pre-registering for each event.
April 25 - In 2008, the Triple Crown opened with the inaugural running of the Valle Crucis 25K (now called the VC 15 Miler). A beautiful day welcomed 60 runners to this challenging course. The 2009 edtion should see an increase in the number of runners tackling this challenging course.
September 5
-
The second event of the Triple Crown is the Valle Crucis 7 Miler. Over 90 runners completed the 4th edition of the Valle Crucis 7 Miler in 2008.
October 10 -
The final event of the series will be the Howard's Knob 5K. A modification to the traditional 2 mile hill climb is in store for 2009. The route will start at Watauga Library and run the first mile in beautiful downtown Boone before heading up The Knob.
The three events that make up the High Country Triple Crown support the High Country Soccer Association. The funds generated support the Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex and provide operating support to the Association.
We hope that you will come visit the High Country and take on the challenge of the High Country Triple Crown.
